‘Cops had no reason to harass him’

LEAVING THE COURT: Constable Anthony Walkes, followed by chief investigator into the I’Akobi Maloney death, ASP Curwen Harvey, and Sergeant Wingrove Headley. Walkes and Headley were the two officers who were with Maloney when he allegedly jumped off a cliff.

“WHAT REASON would the police have to harass I’Akobi Maloney? asked police presenter Station Sergeant Martin Jones on Monday when he delivered his address to coroner Faith Marshall-Harris.

“A man who was so intelligent. He was not a criminal. He did not have any convictions. He was not a person who was wanted by the police so we see no reason why the police would go after him,” Jones stated.

He submitted that the reason why Sergeant Wingrove Headley and Constable Anthony Walkes gave their statements 13 days after the incident, was because both officers were traumatised after Maloney pulled away from them and jumped over the cliff.

“They were totally traumatised over what happened on that day. No police officer would have been able to give a statement,” Jones declared, pointing out that the station diary did contain an account of the incident the day after.

In relation to Maloney’s personal diary and his inserts written on the day he died, the police presenter asked the coroner to accept the evidence of psychiatrist Dr Ermine Belle, that it was the writings of a troubled, young man.

“How do we explain from his writings the words, ‘Sorry it’s too late. I got you all thinking but I am still keeping the silence’,” he asked.

Use of force

He stated that the police had no reason to either push Maloney or make him want to jump off the cliff.

“There is no evidence before you that the police used any force against Maloney. Do we believe that the police pushed him? That is a question for the coroner to decide but I cannot see that scenario in an effective way.”

Jones also described Sergeant Headley as “quiet and easy going” and Constable Walkes as a “well behaved gentleman” who, he stated, went through a similar experience when his brother took his life.

In terms of suggestions that the two officers colluded in preparing their statements, Jones dismissed that, stating that they had similar experiences.

Here is another example of a “cover up”, plain and simple………..These Officers will have to, one day, answer the question from the MOST HIGH HIMSELF as to why they went after an inoccent MAN.

I really hope that THESE OFFICERS NEVER FIND PEACE, SO LONG AS THEY CONTINUE TO TELL LIES……… As Bob Marley RIGHTLY said in one of his songs………”YOU CAN’T RUN AWAY FROM YOURSELF”

Do you know that 10 people will witness an incedent, and you will have 10 different accounts of what happened? Two witnesses and two different accounts. One always sees something that another missed. In this case the only difference in the statements was the name of the other person with the one giving the statement. Strange!? Even the coroner said so. They made a mistake. Why the cover up? Come clean and be forgiven.
